There is reaching, and then there is Jaylen Harrell at pick No. 158. The Dolphins jumped the board by 43 and dared it to prove them wrong. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
They reached into another round for Braden Fiske, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jaylen Harrell in No. 158 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jared Wiley at pick 186 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Myles Jones at Round 6, Pick 24 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Ja'Had Carter at slot 242 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
