The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 56 spots for Aaron Lewis, and value like that does not grow back. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
They banked enough surplus on Oladapo to cover a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
On the needs board they went 3 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 21 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. A real need, handled.
Braden Fiske at slot 53 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jaylen Harrell in the Round 5 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let a safety like Kitan Oladapo reach the 186th pick and blink. They did not. A minor itch, scratched.
No edge and no loss on Christian Jones in No. 199; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A real head-scratcher, Aaron Lewis in Round 7, Pick 22 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
