Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Dolphins spent the 242nd pick on Tahj Washington, a name most had 121 spots down the list. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.21 · Pick 21 · Chop Robinson · DE-EDGE · rank 35
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Mekhi Wingo · DT · rank 68
They liked Mekhi Wingo enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 21. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.22 · Pick 158 · McCallan Castles · TE · rank 152
They did well to land McCallan Castles in the 158th pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.11 · Pick 186 · Josh Proctor · S · rank 187
They took Josh Proctor at par in No. 186, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R6.24 · Pick 199 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 258
A real head-scratcher, Walter Rouse in pick 199 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
R7.22 · Pick 242 · Tahj Washington · WR · rank 363
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tahj Washington well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
