There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Tahj Washington, 121 picks ahead of schedule.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
So much rides on Chris Braswell that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a disruptor off the edge, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value said wait; Braden Fiske in the 53rd overall pick says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ben Sinnott in No. 90 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach for Kitan Oladapo in the 158th pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Christian Jones at pick No. 186 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They talked themselves into Xavier Thomas at slot 199, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
