You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Dolphins did exactly that with Tahj Washington in the Round 7 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 21 they get juice off the edge, reach and all. The biggest hole, addressed.
They took Ja'Tavion Sanders at par in pick No. 53, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
They jumped the gun on Kitan Oladapo, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor itch, scratched.
They reached into another round for Gabe Hall, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Christian Jones in pick 199, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Tahj Washington well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
