The rest of the league will want that one back. Ryan Flournoy tumbling to the Cowboys in Round 7, Pick 26 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Every board in the league had Zinter lower, and that gap is the story. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 56 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Jaylen Wright in the Round 2 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Zak Zinter at slot 88 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jaylin Simpson in No. 174 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had Julian Pearl higher than Round 6, Pick 41, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Rasheen Ali in the 233rd overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Ryan Flournoy in the 246th pick, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
