The Commanders spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They are betting Trotter Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Getting Neyor where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 11th pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
JT Tuimoloau in Round 2, Pick 1 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They paid a round early for T.J. Tampa in pick 36, more than the board wanted. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wild overpay on Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in slot 40, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They liked Cooper Beebe enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 100. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.

Theo Johnson at the 141st overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at pick No. 181 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Nice patience on Isaiah Neyor, who had no business lasting to the 223rd overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
