Start where it matters. The Giants took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Cornelius steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye at pick 3 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Keon Coleman in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They liked Tyler Guyton enough to skip the value, taking him in the 57th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Zak Zinter at No. 67 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A conviction pick on Howard Cross III at pick No. 103 that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board had cheaper options than Mike Sainristil at slot 140, and it noticed. The roster reasoning here is anyone's guess.
Ajani Cornelius slid further than he should have, and the 181st pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
