The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Sainristil. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
If Allen pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
No drama and no debate, Drake Maye went about where he belonged in the 6th pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Xavier Worthy at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 15 with a little surplus value in Tyler Guyton. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Brandon Dorlus at the 70th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Mike Sainristil in pick No. 107 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reach on Braelon Allen in No. 143; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Aki Ogunbiyi in slot 185 is fair value, right on his grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
