The tape said wait; the Giants did not. Josh Proctor went at the 108th overall pick, a good 106 picks before the board was ready.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
Spending an early pick on OLB-EDGE with interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a difference-maker at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jordan Morgan at slot 47. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots still to address, they spent No. 83 on Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE they were not short of.
Max Melton slipping to Round 3, Pick 37 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Josh Proctor in pick 108, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A slide stopped in pick No. 140, with Johnny Wilson worth more than the price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Jawhar Jordan in slot 185 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
