The Packers went off the board in a big way for Kurtis Rourke, 28 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Leaving wide receiver unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On value alone, Wiley makes the weekend a net positive. On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A slide stopped in Round 1, Pick 25, with Dallas Turner worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
T.J. Tampa at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 57th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cooper Beebe at slot 88 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jaden Hicks a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They did well to land Dillon Johnson in the 125th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Will Shipley at pick 135 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Gabe Hall in the 203rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jared Wiley at pick No. 217. It fills a real need, too.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kurtis Rourke in the Round 6 slot, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trey Wedig this early at slot 246. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
