The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Isaiah Williams, the No. 209 name on the board, in the 243rd pick. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will answer for taking safety early while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots went begging. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
If Hicks pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a ballhawk on the outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Kamren Kinchens went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Good price on Kingsley Suamataia in pick 57, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Circle this one: Graham Barton at slot 72 is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Jaden Hicks in No. 91 leaves edge rusher, quarterback and other spots for later.
A reach for Will Shipley in pick No. 126; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A linebacker of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Isaiah Williams in Round 7, Pick 23 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
