The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Troy Franklin, pick 104, roughly 79 picks past where he belonged.
Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 6 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. A real need, handled.
Troy Fautanu in the 34th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
Brian Thomas Jr. at the 47th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tyler Guyton in pick No. 68 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Troy Franklin at Round 4, Pick 4 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
The board fumbled Beau Brade all the way to pick 136, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A running back of that caliber at slot 182 is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They barely believed it either: Michael Wiley still on the board at the 229th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
