The Browns bet big and early on Steele Chambers, 164 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Whatever Bo Nix becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The Hall Jr. pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 1 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
They reached a country mile for Bo Nix at Round 1, Pick 11, and the board is aghast. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chop Robinson at the Round 2 slot is the proof. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wild overpay on Steele Chambers in the 54th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They read the board right and Michael Hall Jr. was the payoff at pick No. 85. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jordan Jefferson in the 156th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A quiet steal in No. 206: Johnny Dixon for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board had Dillon Johnson higher than the Round 7 slot, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Lideatrick Griffin in the 243rd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
