Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Demani Richardson at Round 6, Pick 6 is 65 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
Caleb Williams is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.
King at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They left with tight end solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd overall pick they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Value said wait; Kingsley Suamataia in pick No. 36 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A straight-up fair deal on Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at the 40th pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kalen King in slot 67 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on Cade Stover at pick 100, well ahead of any board in the building. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Blake Fisher in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Darius Robinson in pick 141 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Demani Richardson at pick No. 181 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They did well to land Jordan Magee in the 223rd overall pick, just ahead of his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
