You could see the war room lean forward. Johnny Wilson at the 169th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Anderson pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a long-term starter on the line, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
They read the board right and Graham Barton was the payoff at the 41st pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Kool-Aid McKinstry was still sitting there in pick 58, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Calen Bullock went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They did well to land Blake Corum in the 91st overall pick, just ahead of his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taking Brenden Rice in pick No. 126 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. The roster fit checks out.
Johnny Wilson in Round 5, Pick 33 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They jumped the gun on Nathaniel Watson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They took Jordan Magee at par in No. 219, which is nothing to complain about. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Evan Anderson this early at the 245th pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyrice Knight at slot 255, value and slot in agreement. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
