The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and King: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Kalen King tumbling to the Packers in Round 6, Pick 27 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Every board in the league had Gray lower, and that gap is the story. The Gray pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots still on the board. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.4 · Pick 36 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 47
A reach on Cooper Beebe in No. 36; the board had better options right there. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 42
Javon Bullard in slot 41 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.3 · Pick 67 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Payton Wilson at the 67th pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.17 · Pick 81 · Christian Haynes · OG · rank 65
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Christian Haynes in Round 3, Pick 17. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 114
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots to take Cedric Gray, a linebacker that was not the priority.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Jaden Hicks at safety with edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots open.
R4.18 · Pick 118 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 84
Blake Corum at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 132
They paid sticker price for Christian Jones in the 126th overall pick, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 154
They read the board right and Kitan Oladapo was the payoff at Round 5, Pick 33. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R6.17 · Pick 192 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 187
Tanor Bortolini at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Kalen King · CB · rank 139
Kalen King in No. 202 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 212
They did well to land Nathaniel Watson in the 219th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Tylan Grable · OT · rank 231
Tylan Grable slid further than he should have, and the 245th pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 258
No edge and no loss on Sam Hartman in pick No. 255; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
