Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Packers came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
The Hicks pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver. On value alone, Jones makes the weekend a net positive.
The Spann-Ford reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They will regret leaving wide receiver for another day if the season turns on it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 32 they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Javon Bullard in Round 2, Pick 9 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Nice patience on Edgerrin Cooper, who had no business lasting to pick No. 58. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They bypassed pressing needs at wide receiver to take Jaden Hicks, a safety that was not the priority.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at safety with wide receiver open.
Christian Jones at No. 126 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Mohamed Kamara at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Jarrian Jones was still sitting there in the 159th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Cody Schrader at Round 5, Pick 33 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Joe Milton III in the 173rd pick, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Jared Wiley in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They liked Jaden Crumedy enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 214. It fills a real need, too.
Value said wait; Brevyn Spann-Ford in pick No. 219 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tylan Grable at the 245th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
No edge and no loss on Darius Muasau in No. 255; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
