Green Bay Packers

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B-.

The Packers torched the value chart for Sam Hartman, taking him 56 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

They banked enough surplus on Suamataia to cover a lot of smaller sins. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.

On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Quinyon Mitchell · CB · rank 19
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 45
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 50
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 26, with Kris Jenkins worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Kingsley Suamataia · OT · rank 61
Kingsley Suamataia at the 88th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Dadrion Taylor-Demerson · S · rank 86
Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at pick No. 91 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Isaiah Davis · RB · rank 156
They talked themselves into Isaiah Davis at No. 126, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 187
A big swing on Tanor Bortolini at the 169th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 258
Value said wait; Sam Hartman in the Round 6 slot says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trey Knox · TE · rank 223
Trey Knox at Round 6, Pick 44 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · C.J. Hanson · OG · rank 263
C.J. Hanson at the 245th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Darius Muasau · LB · rank 260
A straight-up fair deal on Darius Muasau at pick No. 255, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
