This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Malik Mustapha, the No. 170 name on the board, stolen at pick 202. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They are betting Bortolini proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Kool-Aid McKinstry in No. 41 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at slot 58, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jaden Hicks at the 88th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
A reach on Audric Estime in pick No. 91; the board had better options right there. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Elijah Jones at pick 126 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A real head-scratcher, Tanor Bortolini in the 169th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A safety of that caliber at the Round 6 slot is the definition of value, full stop. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Nathaniel Watson in slot 219. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
The board had Tylan Grable higher than pick 245, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Sam Hartman in the 255th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
