The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Sione Vaki, the 202nd overall pick, roughly 44 picks past where he belonged.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Bortolini left real value on the table behind him.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 28 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
They went early on Edgerrin Cooper in Round 2, Pick 9, and the value did not follow. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Sedrick Van Pran in the Round 2 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
Trey Benson at pick 88 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value with a capital V on Calen Bullock in the 91st pick, a genuine coup. A minor itch, scratched.
Jarrian Jones at pick No. 126 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No drama and no debate, Christian Jones went about where he belonged in No. 128. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jaylin Simpson at the 134th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wild overpay on Tanor Bortolini in pick No. 169, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They robbed the room for Sione Vaki here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Caedan Wallace in the Round 6 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They paid a round early for Tyrice Knight in No. 245, more than the board wanted. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Daijahn Anthony in slot 255 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
