The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Dominique Hampton fell into pick No. 255.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Wright proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Cooper DeJean at No. 41 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A reach for Jaylen Wright in the Round 2 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Mike Sainristil is a better player than slot 88 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Mahogany at the 91st pick squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A straight-up fair deal on Mohamed Kamara at Round 4, Pick 26, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They read the board right and Kitan Oladapo was the payoff at pick 169. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A tidy little value on Curtis Jacobs in the 202nd overall pick, a step better than break-even. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Fair-plus on Caedan Wallace, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A quiet steal in No. 245: Tylan Grable for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
The board fumbled Dominique Hampton all the way to the 255th pick, and they scooped it up. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
