The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Tylan Grable, the No. 231 name on the board, in the 255th overall pick.
Every board in the league had Zinter lower, and that gap is the story. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 41st pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reasonable price with a little left over, T.J. Tampa in the 58th overall pick. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They liked Zak Zinter enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 88. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Mike Sainristil slid further than he should have, and pick No. 91 is lovely value for the cornerback. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They paid sticker price for Mohamed Kamara in pick 126, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Malik Mustapha in slot 169 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Good price on Curtis Jacobs in the Round 6 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Magee at Round 6, Pick 44, value and slot in agreement. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Dominique Hampton at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
By-the-book stuff, Jalen Sundell at the 245th pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Tylan Grable at pick 255 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
