Boards are made to be trusted, and the Packers shredded theirs for Jack Westover. He came off 63 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
The Green pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman. The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a long-term starter on the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Javon Bullard in No. 41 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Haynes at the 66th pick, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They read the board right and Jaylen Wright was the payoff at pick No. 81. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Max Melton slipping to the 88th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Khyree Jackson at pick 89 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Renardo Green at safety with interior defensive lineman open.
Cedric Gray in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They paid a round early for Javon Foster in pick No. 102, more than the board wanted. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.

They paid up for Khristian Boyd at No. 169 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

Curtis Jacobs in pick 219 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.

Sam Hartman at slot 235 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Edefuan Ulofoshio in No. 255, plain and simple. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
They liked Trey Taylor enough to skip the value, taking him in the 256th pick. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jack Westover. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
