The rest of the league had time to spare on Jaylon Hutchings; the Packers did not wait, grabbing him 99 spots ahead at the Round 7 slot. The final tally is a middling C+.

Rosemy-Jacksaint at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.

If Cooper DeJean and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 26
In the 25th overall pick they get a press-man option on the boundary. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · Brian Thomas Jr. · WR · rank 27
Taking Brian Thomas Jr. in the 49th pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in slot 58. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R3.7 · Pick 71 · Christian Haynes · OG · rank 65
A clean, defensible pick in Round 3, Pick 7 with a little surplus value in Christian Haynes. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 75
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Mike Sainristil. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dadrion Taylor-Demerson · S · rank 86
A straight-up fair deal on Dadrion Taylor-Demerson at pick 88, value and slot in agreement. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Trey Benson · RB · rank 87
A reasonable price with a little left over, Trey Benson in pick No. 90. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Good price on Jaden Hicks in the 91st overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Zak Zinter · OG · rank 105
They paid a round early for Zak Zinter in Round 3, Pick 34, more than the board wanted. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.4 · Pick 104 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 113
They went early on Cedric Gray in No. 104, and the value did not follow. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R4.15 · Pick 115 · Javon Foster · OT · rank 119
Javon Foster at pick 115 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 129
They paid sticker price for Ben Sinnott in slot 126, and that is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R4.31 · Pick 131 · Mohamed Kamara · DL-EDGE · rank 133
They took Mohamed Kamara at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R4.33 · Pick 133 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 136
Jarrian Jones in the 133rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Spencer Rattler · QB · rank 117
Spencer Rattler in pick No. 135 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.36 · Pick 136 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 148
A reach on Justin Eboigbe in No. 136; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.9 · Pick 145 · Dallin Holker · TE · rank 150
No edge and no loss on Dallin Holker in the 145th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.11 · Pick 147 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 132
Christian Jones at the 147th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jordan Jefferson · DT · rank 183
A reach for Jordan Jefferson in Round 5, Pick 33; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
R6.1 · Pick 176 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 200
Joe Milton III at slot 176 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.36 · Pick 211 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 163
Walter Rouse in the Round 6 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.40 · Pick 215 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 203
Ryan Flournoy at pick 215 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R6.43 · Pick 218 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 212
Nathaniel Watson at Round 6, Pick 43 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Caedan Wallace · OT · rank 213
Caedan Wallace at No. 219 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R7.8 · Pick 228 · Daijahn Anthony · CB · rank 237
Daijahn Anthony at the 228th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint · WR · rank 195
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint at the 245th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.30 · Pick 250 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
A tidy little value on Jalen Sundell in pick No. 250, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.31 · Pick 251 · Kimani Vidal · RB · rank 253
By-the-book stuff, Kimani Vidal at slot 251 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jaylon Hutchings · DL · rank 354
They talked themselves into Jaylon Hutchings at pick 255, and the board did not agree. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.36 · Pick 256 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 258
Sam Hartman at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.39 · Pick 257 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 267
They jumped the gun on Trey Taylor, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
