Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Chris Braswell, the No. 44 name on the board, should have been long gone before Round 3, Pick 25.
Every board in the league had Gargiulo lower, and that gap is the story. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back.
They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a blindside protector, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
They paid a round early for Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 41, more than the board wanted. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and T'Vondre Sweat at the Round 2 slot is the proof. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Chris Braswell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Cole Bishop at Round 3, Pick 28 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Javon Foster in No. 126 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The roster fit checks out.
Malik Mustapha at the 169th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
No edge and no loss on Joe Milton III in the 202nd overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Cornelius Johnson at the Round 6 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Jalen Sundell at par in the 245th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nick Gargiulo in slot 255 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Trey Taylor at pick 256 when waiting would have done the job. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Somehow Daijahn Anthony was still sitting there in pick No. 257, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
