Green Bay Packers

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent the 239th pick on Trey Taylor, a name the board had a full 30 spots lower. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Jacobs falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Job largely done: cornerback settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 28
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback. A real need, handled.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 37
Fair-plus on Jordan Morgan, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
They paid sticker price for Payton Wilson in the 58th overall pick, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Jaden Hicks at pick 88 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.14 · Pick 114 · Isaac Guerendo · RB · rank 128
They liked Isaac Guerendo enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 114. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.16 · Pick 116 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 129
The board had cheaper options than Ben Sinnott at slot 116, and it noticed. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Jarrian Jones · CB · rank 136
Jarrian Jones at pick No. 126 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.23 · Pick 159 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 170
Malik Mustapha in the Round 5 slot is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R5.34 · Pick 170 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 188
Tanor Bortolini at slot 170 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Trente Jones · OT · rank 194
A tidy bit of business in the 202nd overall pick, where Trente Jones graded well above the range. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Curtis Jacobs · LB · rank 198
Curtis Jacobs at Round 6, Pick 44 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.19 · Pick 239 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 269
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Taylor well ahead of where he belonged. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 259
A reach on Sam Hartman in the 245th pick; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Daijahn Anthony · CB · rank 237
You do not let a cornerback like Daijahn Anthony reach No. 255 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
