This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Cornelius Johnson, the No. 186 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 6. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. If Nourzad pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Packers clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
A tidy bit of business in pick 63, where Kris Jenkins graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dominick Puni in No. 88 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Cole Bishop at Round 4, Pick 5 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They liked Ben Sinnott enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 119. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reach on Mohamed Kamara in the 124th overall pick; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Zak Zinter in slot 126 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Jarrian Jones in the Round 4 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Hunter Nourzad at the Round 5 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kitan Oladapo is a better player than No. 169 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Jase McClellan at Round 6, Pick 11 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A straight-up fair deal on Joe Milton III at pick 202, value and slot in agreement. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Taking Curtis Jacobs in the 219th pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Steal is underselling it; Cornelius Johnson at slot 226 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Circle this one: Edefuan Ulofoshio at pick No. 255 is a fall that decides a draft. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They paid a round early for Trey Taylor in the 256th overall pick, more than the board wanted. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Daijahn Anthony at slot 257 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
