Green Bay Packers

Pritchett should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a B+.

The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Nehemiah Pritchett fell into pick 202. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Limmer pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

The veteran additions, Creed Humphrey chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Brock Bowers · TE · rank 5
In the 25th overall pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at pick 58 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R2.32 · Pick 64 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 69
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in No. 64, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 42
Javon Bullard in Round 3, Pick 25 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Beaux Limmer · C · rank 126
This one needs a full-page explanation: Beaux Limmer in slot 97, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Will Shipley · RB · rank 107
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Will Shipley in pick No. 126, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Javon Foster · OT · rank 119
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 169th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Dallin Holker · TE · rank 150
Somehow Dallin Holker was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 170
Malik Mustapha in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Nehemiah Pritchett · CB · rank 143
Nehemiah Pritchett at slot 202 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.39 · Pick 214 · Fabien Lovett · DL · rank 183
Circle this one: Fabien Lovett at pick No. 214 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Cody Schrader · RB · rank 174
They robbed the room for Cody Schrader here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Trente Jones · OT · rank 194
You do not let an offensive lineman like Trente Jones reach No. 245 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Daijahn Anthony · CB · rank 237
The board fumbled Daijahn Anthony all the way to the 255th pick, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.36 · Pick 256 · Richard Jibunor · OLB-EDGE · rank 272
They paid up for Richard Jibunor at pick 256 when waiting would have done the job. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
R7.39 · Pick 257 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 268
They paid a round early for Trey Taylor in Round 7, Pick 39, more than the board wanted. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
