The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Nehemiah Pritchett fell into pick 202. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. The Limmer pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The veteran additions, Creed Humphrey chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
By-the-book stuff, Payton Wilson at pick 58 squarely in line with his ranking. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid sticker price for Patrick Paul in No. 64, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Javon Bullard in Round 3, Pick 25 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Beaux Limmer in slot 97, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Will Shipley in pick No. 126, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 169th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Somehow Dallin Holker was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier tight end value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Malik Mustapha in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Nehemiah Pritchett at slot 202 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Fabien Lovett at pick No. 214 is a fall that decides a draft. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Cody Schrader here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Trente Jones reach No. 245 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board fumbled Daijahn Anthony all the way to the 255th pick, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid up for Richard Jibunor at pick 256 when waiting would have done the job. It fits a board better than it fits this team.
They paid a round early for Trey Taylor in Round 7, Pick 39, more than the board wanted. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
