The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Jase McClellan, the No. 196 name on the board, sitting there at No. 245 like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a sticky cover corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They paid sticker price for Chris Braswell in the Round 2 slot, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A straight-up fair deal on Kingsley Suamataia at pick 58, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Dominick Puni went about where he belonged in slot 88. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Fair-plus on Jaden Hicks, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Ben Sinnott in No. 126 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Khristian Boyd in the 169th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
By-the-book stuff, Jaylan Ford at pick No. 202 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Taking Jase McClellan in Round 7, Pick 25 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Trevin Wallace in the 255th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Jalen Sundell at pick 256 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A need, and now a little less of one.
Daijahn Anthony at the 257th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
