There is conviction, and then there is this. The Packers took Keith Randolph Jr. a full 40 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Washington. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Hit on Olumuyiwa Fashanu and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 16th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at the 58th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor itch, scratched.
No drama and no debate, Dominick Puni went about where he belonged in pick No. 90. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Cole Bishop in No. 102 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Beaux Limmer at Round 4, Pick 5 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A tidy little value on Audric Estime in the Round 4 slot, a step better than break-even. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Ben Sinnott in the 118th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Cam Hart at pick No. 119 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a wide receiver like Brenden Rice reach No. 120 and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Isaac Guerendo. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Jarrian Jones in pick 131; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Michael Pratt in the 133rd pick, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They jumped the gun on Justin Eboigbe, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Malik Mustapha at Round 5, Pick 33 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They paid up for Ty'Ron Hopper at the Round 5 slot when waiting would have done the job. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
The board had Walter Rouse higher than No. 172, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They liked Tanor Bortolini enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 173. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They reached a country mile for Joe Milton III at slot 174, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A conviction pick on Jordan Jefferson at pick No. 175 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.

Taking Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 179 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid a round early for Jaylan Ford in the Round 6 slot, more than the board wanted. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A running back of that caliber at No. 199 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

A wild overpay on Trey Taylor in the Round 7 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Nothing to complain about; Jalen Sundell went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Steal is underselling it; Trevin Wallace at slot 252 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Daijahn Anthony in pick No. 255 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
