The Packers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.
The cost of the Milton III reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The Vaki pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in pick 41 with a little surplus value in Jordan Morgan. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Christian Haynes went about where he belonged in No. 67. The roster fit checks out.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Max Melton. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They paid sticker price for Dadrion Taylor-Demerson in the 88th overall pick, and that is fine. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Cedric Gray in pick No. 91 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Ray Davis at Round 4, Pick 4 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Ben Sinnott at par in slot 126, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Good price on Mohamed Kamara in the Round 5 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached into another round for Joe Milton III, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Khristian Boyd at pick No. 171 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid a round early for Tanor Bortolini in No. 172, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Steal is underselling it; Sione Vaki at the 180th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Trente Jones at slot 188 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Jaylan Ford in pick 202; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Caedan Wallace at the Round 6 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Daijahn Anthony at the 222nd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Trey Taylor in the 245th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Evan Anderson well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
