This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jarrian Jones, the No. 136 name on the board, stolen at Round 5, Pick 33. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The Limmer pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The Packers paired the rookies with proven help, Darnell Washington leading the way.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Junior Colson at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Braden Fiske at No. 53 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
No drama and no debate, Payton Wilson went about where he belonged in No. 58. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
They took Patrick Paul at par in slot 67, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
No edge and no loss on Max Melton in the 78th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Dominick Puni at pick No. 84, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Zak Zinter in pick 89 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It fills a real need, too.
Beaux Limmer in Round 3, Pick 29 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ray Davis. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Ben Sinnott at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They went early on Roger Rosengarten in the 120th pick, and the value did not follow. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They paid sticker price for Mohamed Kamara in the Round 4 slot, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tyrone Tracy Jr. at No. 131 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The roster fit checks out.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Kitan Oladapo. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Jarrian Jones at pick 169 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Joe Milton III at the 178th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They did well to land Jase McClellan in pick No. 202, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Cornelius Johnson at Round 6, Pick 44 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
JD Bertrand in the 220th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They jumped the gun on Edefuan Ulofoshio, taking him earlier than his grade liked. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
LaDarius Henderson in Round 7, Pick 25 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Trey Taylor well ahead of where he belonged. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tarheeb Still in pick 255. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
