Some picks age like wine; Joe Milton III at the Round 5 slot will need to, sitting 32 spots clear of his grade. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. The Jones pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Cooper DeJean in slot 28 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kris Jenkins slipping to the 58th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Junior Colson at pick 69 is the proof. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jaden Hicks in Round 3, Pick 25 lands just on the right side of the ledger. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Value said wait; Ray Davis in the 91st pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Beaux Limmer at No. 105 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A need, and now a little less of one.
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ben Sinnott. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They took Roger Rosengarten at par in the 128th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jarrian Jones at Round 4, Pick 34 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Joe Milton III well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid sticker price for Jaylan Ford in pick 202, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Trente Jones at the 219th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Whittington went about where he belonged in pick No. 245. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They reached a country mile for Trey Taylor at slot 248, and the board is aghast. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
They jumped the gun on C.J. Hanson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It fills a real need, too.
Steal is underselling it; Daijahn Anthony at No. 255 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
