Green Bay Packers

The Packers let Schrader fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

Future A+

Somebody took the Packers to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

On value alone, Schrader makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Reaching for Sundell left real value on the table behind him.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.9 · Pick 41 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 38
A tidy little value on Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 9, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 45
They read the board right and T'Vondre Sweat was the payoff at the 58th overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Mike Sainristil · CB · rank 75
Nice patience on Mike Sainristil, who had no business lasting to pick No. 88. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 88
Nothing to complain about; Dominick Puni went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 135
They paid a round early for Roger Rosengarten in No. 126, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 154
A tidy bit of business in slot 169, where Kitan Oladapo graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R5.35 · Pick 171 · Dallin Holker · TE · rank 151
The board fumbled Dallin Holker all the way to the 171st overall pick, and they scooped it up. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.36 · Pick 172 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 182
They liked Ty'Ron Hopper enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 172. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Cody Schrader · RB · rank 175
Circle this one: Cody Schrader at pick No. 202 is a fall that decides a draft. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Keith Randolph Jr. · DL-EDGE · rank 218
Keith Randolph Jr. at Round 6, Pick 44 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.11 · Pick 231 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
A premium they did not need to pay, Jalen Sundell a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 233
Trevin Wallace is a better player than the Round 7 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 269
They paid up for Trey Taylor at the 255th pick when waiting would have done the job. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
