Green Bay Packers

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Packers: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Braelon Allen tumbling to the Packers in pick No. 126 is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. Reaching for Raym left real value on the table behind him.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Terrion Arnold · CB · rank 18
In Round 1, Pick 25 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 23
They robbed the room for J.J. McCarthy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 52
Junior Colson in pick No. 58 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Fair-plus on Jaden Hicks, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 88
Good price on Dominick Puni in Round 3, Pick 28, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 106
A running back of that caliber at the 126th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 189
They reached a country mile for Tanor Bortolini at pick 169, and the board is aghast. It fills a real need, too.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 206
They took Jaylan Ford at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Andrew Raym · C · rank 240
Andrew Raym at slot 219 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 266
Trey Taylor in the 245th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Daijahn Anthony · CB · rank 238
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Daijahn Anthony at the 255th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
