Every swap seemed to tilt away from the Packers, and the value they bled adds up to real damage. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D+ is the result.
Every board in the league had Nourzad lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Landing Jones that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Amarius Mims at slot 25, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Darius Robinson in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They read the board right and Edgerrin Cooper was the payoff at pick 58. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaylen Wright at pick No. 88. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A quiet steal in Round 3, Pick 28: Max Melton for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Ben Sinnott at the 126th pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Roger Rosengarten at the Round 4 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Michael Pratt in the 134th pick is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Hunter Nourzad this early at slot 136. It fills a real need, too.
Jarrian Jones at No. 144 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They took Trevor Keegan at par in the 145th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
No edge and no loss on Tyrone Tracy Jr. in Round 5, Pick 11; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kitan Oladapo in pick 160. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
No drama and no debate, Malik Mustapha went about where he belonged in pick No. 163. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cody Schrader. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They jumped the gun on Joe Milton III, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They went early on Nathaniel Watson in slot 202, and the value did not follow. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
They barely believed it either: Trente Jones still on the board at pick No. 219. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A slide stopped in No. 245, with Trevin Wallace worth more than the price. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
The board had Daijahn Anthony higher than pick 255, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
