The Trey Taylor pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 47 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.

They banked enough surplus on Corum to cover a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Donovan Peoples-Jones pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.29 · Pick 29 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 27
In pick 29 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Tyler Guyton · OT · rank 29
Tyler Guyton is a better player than the 41st overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Amarius Mims · OT · rank 25
The board fumbled Amarius Mims all the way to Round 2, Pick 26, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Braden Fiske · DL · rank 58
Braden Fiske at the Round 3 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Renardo Green · S · rank 76
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Renardo Green at slot 91 is the proof. A minor itch, scratched.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Blake Corum · RB · rank 84
You do not let a running back like Blake Corum reach the 126th pick and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 201
A big swing on Joe Milton III at No. 169, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.26 · Pick 201 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 222
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jordan Magee in the 201st overall pick, miles early. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 214
A reach for Nathaniel Watson in pick 202; a little patience would have been rewarded. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 266
A wild overpay on Trey Taylor in pick No. 219, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Matthew Jones · OG · rank 265
They reached into another round for Matthew Jones, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 247
Nice patience on Jalen Sundell, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. The roster fit checks out.
