You can hear the double-takes from here. The Packers took Devin Culp at No. 255, roughly 48 spots before his name belonged.

They banked enough surplus on Nix to cover a lot of smaller sins. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.

That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.26 · Pick 26 · Terrion Arnold · CB · rank 18
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get a lockdown presence outside, and a steal at that. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.20 · Pick 52 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 58
A straight-up fair deal on Payton Wilson at the 52nd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Bo Nix · QB · rank 30
Somehow Bo Nix was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier quarterback value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.23 · Pick 86 · Marshawn Kneeland · DE-EDGE · rank 80
A reasonable price with a little left over, Marshawn Kneeland in pick 86. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Good price on Jaden Hicks in No. 88, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
Christian Mahogany in the 91st pick is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 103
You do not let a running back like Audric Estime reach Round 4, Pick 26 and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.27 · Pick 127 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 135
A conviction pick on Roger Rosengarten at pick No. 127 that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.26 · Pick 162 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 169
No edge and no loss on Malik Mustapha in slot 162; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · AJ Barner · TE · rank 171
No drama and no debate, AJ Barner went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Trente Jones · OT · rank 194
Trente Jones at No. 202 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 205
A slide stopped in the 219th overall pick, with Jaylan Ford worth more than the price. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R6.45 · Pick 220 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 212
A tidy bit of business in the 220th pick, where Nathaniel Watson graded well above the range. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.6 · Pick 226 · Caedan Wallace · OT · rank 210
Caedan Wallace slid further than he should have, and pick 226 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 262
They liked Trey Taylor enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 7 slot. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R7.27 · Pick 247 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
Jalen Sundell at pick 247 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Devin Culp · TE · rank 303
Devin Culp at the 255th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
