The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Brenden Rice, pick No. 144, roughly 47 picks past where he belonged. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.
The Holker reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a potential shutdown corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Payton Wilson at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
Circle this one: Bo Nix at pick 65 is a fall that decides a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Fair-plus on Jaden Hicks, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A clean, defensible pick in the 91st pick with a little surplus value in Trey Benson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Christian Mahogany in Round 4, Pick 1, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A reach on Mohamed Kamara in No. 125; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A conviction pick on Roger Rosengarten at pick No. 126 that the board grades a round light. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They jumped the gun on Dallin Holker, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Hunter Nourzad in slot 142 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Brenden Rice at the 144th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
No edge and no loss on Malik Mustapha in No. 169; it is a wash and a sensible one. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Joe Milton III in pick No. 202 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value with a capital V on Caedan Wallace in Round 6, Pick 44, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Rasheen Ali in pick 245 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in the Round 7 slot, where Trevin Wallace graded well above the range. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
By-the-book stuff, Trey Taylor at pick No. 255 squarely in line with his ranking. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
