When the story of this class is written, it opens with Omar Brown at the Round 7 slot, a reach of 39 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Simpson. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 31
Jackson Powers-Johnson in the 25th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Tyler Nubin · S · rank 40
Tyler Nubin in the 41st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 50
Kris Jenkins slipping to No. 58 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Malik Washington · WR · rank 93
They took Malik Washington at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
They paid sticker price for Christian Mahogany in pick 97, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R4.15 · Pick 115 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 113
Cedric Gray at pick No. 115 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Will Shipley · RB · rank 109
The board had Will Shipley higher than the 126th pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 138
Jaylin Simpson at Round 5, Pick 33 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 199
Joe Milton III at No. 202 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 211
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Nathaniel Watson at slot 219. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Omar Brown · S · rank 284
Omar Brown at pick 245 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
Jalen Sundell at the Round 7 slot is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It fills a real need, too.
