You could see the war room lean forward. Kamal Hadden at slot 202 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Reaching for Travis left real value on the table behind him.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at fair value. A real need, handled.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jackson Powers-Johnson at the Round 2 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
They let Edgerrin Cooper come to them and pounced at the 58th overall pick. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Cole Bishop in pick 88 is fair value, right on his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A reach on Christian Mahogany in Round 3, Pick 28; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jarrian Jones in No. 126 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They liked Jordan Travis enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 169. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Kamal Hadden in the 202nd pick, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They did well to land Jaylan Ford in the 219th pick, just ahead of his grade. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
They went early on Frank Crum in the Round 7 slot, and the value did not follow. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They read the board right and Kendall Milton was the payoff at Round 7, Pick 35. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
