The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Packers spent their marquee pick on Drake Maye, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
The Ezirim reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That Maye pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
Drake Maye in pick 25 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing J.J. McCarthy in No. 41. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They took Renardo Green at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid sticker price for DJ James in slot 88, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Cedric Gray at the 91st pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid up for Mohamed Kamara at Round 4, Pick 4 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Audric Estime at pick No. 126 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
James Williams in the 169th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Kamal Hadden at No. 186 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Trey Taylor at pick No. 202 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Nothing to complain about; Jaylan Ford went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A reach for Frank Crum in the 245th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
They reached a country mile for Jalen Sundell at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Drake Nugent in pick 256, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Josiah Ezirim in slot 257 says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
