The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Jarrett Kingston, 68 picks early at the 245th pick. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is McClellan. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.16 · Pick 48 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 46
No drama and no debate, Junior Colson went about where he belonged in slot 48. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 62
By-the-book stuff, Jaden Hicks at Round 2, Pick 26 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Patrick Paul · OT · rank 85
Patrick Paul in the 88th pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. It fills a real need, too.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 89
Dominick Puni in No. 91 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Khyree Jackson · CB · rank 95
Good price on Khyree Jackson in the Round 3 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Audric Estime · RB · rank 122
Audric Estime at pick No. 126 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.3 · Pick 139 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 132
Malik Mustapha at No. 139 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · James Williams · LB · rank 173
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Joe Milton III · QB · rank 216
Joe Milton III at Round 6, Pick 27 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R6.43 · Pick 218 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 205
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick 218. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 207
They read the board right and Nathaniel Watson was the payoff at the Round 6 slot. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R7.16 · Pick 236 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 230
They did well to land Trey Taylor in the 236th pick, just ahead of his grade. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Jarrett Kingston · OT · rank 313
They reached into another round for Jarrett Kingston, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.30 · Pick 250 · Jowon Briggs · DT · rank 271
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jowon Briggs in slot 250, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jase McClellan · RB · rank 217
They robbed the room for Jase McClellan here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
