Future B-

The rest of the league will want that one back. Javon Bullard tumbling to the Packers in No. 88 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. They will need Prince to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 21
Cooper DeJean at the 25th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R2.17 · Pick 49 · Bo Nix · QB · rank 33
Nice patience on Bo Nix, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 64
They paid sticker price for T'Vondre Sweat in Round 2, Pick 26, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 54
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Javon Bullard in pick 88, plain and simple. A minor itch, scratched.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jermaine Burton · WR · rank 79
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jermaine Burton in the 91st pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.34 · Pick 97 · DJ James · CB · rank 93
Good price on DJ James in No. 97, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R4.15 · Pick 115 · Braelon Allen · RB · rank 113
Braelon Allen at slot 115 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Javon Foster · OT · rank 131
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Javon Foster. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jordan Magee · LB · rank 161
The board had Jordan Magee higher than slot 169, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 207
Nathaniel Watson in the 202nd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 230
They liked Trey Taylor enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 219. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Deantre Prince · CB · rank 257
A conviction pick on Deantre Prince at the Round 7 slot that the board grades a round light. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Frank Crum · OT · rank 254
No drama and no debate, Frank Crum went about where he belonged in pick 255. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
