The Packers spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jaylin Simpson, the No. 158 name on the board, in No. 202. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Briggs pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 21
In the 25th overall pick they get an island corner. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 46
No edge and no loss on Junior Colson in slot 41; it is a wash and a sensible one. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Jaylen Wright · RB · rank 59
No drama and no debate, Jaylen Wright went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 26. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Dominick Puni · OT · rank 89
They took Dominick Puni at par in No. 88, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.37 · Pick 100 · Mohamed Kamara · DL-EDGE · rank 114
They liked Mohamed Kamara enough to skip the value, taking him in the 100th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 102
They robbed the room for Ben Sinnott here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.16 · Pick 152 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 151
Trevin Wallace in the Round 5 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R5.17 · Pick 153 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 154
A straight-up fair deal on Tanor Bortolini at pick 153, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Jordan Travis · QB · rank 180
A conviction pick on Jordan Travis at No. 169 that the board grades a round light. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Jaylin Simpson · CB · rank 158
They will replay Jaylin Simpson at the 202nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 230
They paid up for Trey Taylor at the 219th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.2 · Pick 222 · Jaylan Ford · LB · rank 215
Jaylan Ford at pick 222 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Jowon Briggs · DT · rank 271
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jowon Briggs in Round 7, Pick 25, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Ryan Watts · CB · rank 233
They barely believed it either: Ryan Watts still on the board at slot 255. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
