Every other box got a look, but edge rusher did not. The Packers will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
McCormick at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They will need Carlies to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jordan Morgan at the 41st pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
Max Melton in the 58th overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dominick Puni at Round 3, Pick 25 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Ben Sinnott at pick No. 91 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Fair-plus on Cedric Gray, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A quiet steal in slot 169: Mason McCormick for less than the market said. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edefuan Ulofoshio. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Kimani Vidal is a better player than the 219th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Ryan Watts in the 245th overall pick, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They went early on Jaylon Carlies in slot 255, and the value did not follow. A minor itch, scratched.
