The Packers did not so much draft Bru McCoy as overpay for him, 33 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Nolen that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 19 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Walter Nolen slipping to Round 2, Pick 19 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
No drama and no debate, Jonah Monheim went about where he belonged in pick No. 83. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Value said wait; Raheim Sanders in the Round 4 slot says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Bru McCoy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Dorian Strong at the 179th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
KJ Jefferson at the Round 7 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A wild overpay on Deontae Lawson in pick No. 212, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
