Somebody in pick 115 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Oscar Delp, the No. 82 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. The Griffith reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a run-stuffing presence up front, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Dani Dennis-Sutton in pick No. 53 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jay Higgins. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board fumbled Oscar Delp all the way to pick 115, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
A clean, defensible pick in the 117th overall pick with a little surplus value in Wyatt Milum. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
By-the-book stuff, Jasheen Davis at Round 5, Pick 19 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Thor Griffith at the 149th pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid sticker price for Bru McCoy in slot 179, and that is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
A reach on Jordan Burch in the 211th pick; the board had better options right there. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
