The Deontae Lawson selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 33 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 19 they get a problem off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Dani Dennis-Sutton in Round 2, Pick 19 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jonah Monheim in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Good price on Wyatt Milum in slot 115, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A need, and now a little less of one.
Thor Griffith at pick No. 147 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A straight-up fair deal on Bru McCoy at the 179th pick, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Deontae Lawson at Round 7, Pick 19 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A minor itch, scratched.
